Kickoff
The 2008 Girls Golf Season Kickoff will be held at Eagle Point Golf Club on Sunday, March 2, beginning at 2:30. Weather
permitting, there will be golf games on the driving range and there will be a club fitting for those girls who need it.
Bring your own clubs; clubs will be provided for girls who don’t have them. For the adults there will be an introduction to
the 2008 Girls Golf program, followed by a reception for everyone. All girls interested in golf and their parents are invited
to attend.
Instruction
LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Birmingham, in partnership with the Ladies Birmingham Golf Association and Lady Legacy Scholarship
Foundation, is a two-part program incorporating Instruction and Competition.
Lead instructor for the program is Brooke Valente, PGA Teaching Apprentice and former director of the youth golf program at
Greystone Golf Club. Brooke will direct girls at the entry level while girls at the intermediate and advanced levels will be
led by Alan Sims, PGA Teaching Professional at Eagle Point Golf Club.
There will be approximately 15 clinics beginning at 5:30 and lasting one hour on Monday afternoons from March through June,
held mostly at Eagle Point Golf Club. The curriculum follows the U.S. Kids Golf Program which provides instruction in the
basic elements of the game, including etiquette and rules, with skills and scoring tests that must be passed before advancing
to the next level.
Competition
Under the direction of the Ladies Birmingham Golf Association, there will be five competitive tournaments beginning after
school is out and concluding with the LBGA Girls Golf Championship in July.
Program fee for the 2008 program is only $85 per girl. This fee covers all events for the entire season.
