From The President
Greetings and Happy Holidays!
What a wild, busy and fun year it’s been for our Birmingham EWGA Chapter. It’s been an honor to serve as your Chapter President for 2011 and I look even more forward to 2012.
Just think it was the 20th Anniversary of EWGA this past year which is pretty amazing. During this time we celebrated Barbara Shaw as the winner of the Leadership award for Community Impact in large part due to her long standing commitment to Girl’s Golf in Birmingham as well as participation in other Community events. Sylvia Sumners and I had the opportunity to attend the Golfpalooza at Amelia Island in Florida where inspiring stories were shared; we met new and old members from other chapters, in particular from the Huntsville and Atlanta chapters. The next meeting will be in Vegas Baby!! Let’s load up a bunch of members and plan to head West in April!
We had a great kickoff event to start out the season at the Pelham Civic Center. At or near kickoff we had 7 new members join. In fact I would like to welcome all of our 2011 new members: Allison Shratter, Susan Hoggarth, Victoria Myers, Donna Snider, Carol Steinert, Robin Phillips, Monica Whiting, Cheryl McCorkle, Luisa Eroles, Tammy Dunn and welcome back to Becky Feronti, Freida Limerick and Patti Reid. AND a very warm welcome to our guys – John Sumners and Steve Markham! We look forward to seeing more of each of you in the New Year too!
Let’s see we had a very successful Chapter Championship of which our scramble team went on to win in the Nationals!! Congratulations to the winning team of Captain, Terri Henderson, Sylvia Sumners, Diane Young and Pia Todora, we’re all so proud of you. When I talk to people outside of our chapter that is one of the first things they bring up!
We had the Hawaiian Open, The Beast (The Divas), lots of league offerings, social outings, and too many more to name! We met up with ladies from the Cumberland School of Law who we think will be joining us in 2012 too! I’m sure I’ve not mentioned something or someone but know I applaud your successes throughout the year!
Thank you to our Sponsors, who we appreciate more than you can ever know and I would like to say a special thank you to the 2011 board members. Without you all that we accomplished this year would not have been possible. To those of you moving on (Bettie Cook, Carolyn King, Barbara Shaw, and Diane Young) I appreciate your time and contributions and to the 2012 board – let’s get ready to for a Fantastic 2012!!!
Happy Holidays to all of you and your families and Best Wishes in the New Year!!
